This workshop makes student finance fun! It explores student finance, how student loan repayments work, future earning potential and how students can afford to live at university. It is our favourite workshop – and always shows fantastic post-session impact. It is created bespoke for the year group booked.
Full Event Details:
The session includes:
- Students using plastic money to allow them to consider their student loan repayments based on potential earnings. This will put student loan ‘debt’ into a practical context.
- Students exploring university subjects in relation to their future earnings – and guessing the subjects using interactive clickers where statistically they are more likely to earn the most in the future.
- Exercises exploring university grants, bursaries and scholarships with exercises created in collaboration with our friends at The Scholarship Hub.
Group size: 5 - 35
Duration: 45 minutes (without scholarship search exercise) or 1 hour (with scholarship search exercise)
The sessions are fully evaluated. This data can be used as an evidence base in terms of the impact of this intervention for school improvement purposes and Ofsted inspections.
A press release can also be sent to the local press after each session, so schools potentially benefit from great publicity as well
Who will deliver the sessions?
All sessions will be facilitated by Jon Cheek, the Founder and Director of UniTasterDays Ltd. Jon has spent a career working in higher education, working with schools throughout the UK. He has worked for three Midlands universities and also sat as an Executive Director of the Higher Education External Relations Association.
UniTasterDays is a Careers England Member organisation, an affiliate member of The Careers Development Institute and a collaborative partner of HELOA. UniTasterDays was a 2018 finalist at the Education Resource Awards.
We are not funded for sessions, so charges apply. If you don't have any budget for independent UniTasterDays workshops, do remember that universities offer great events too - which are usually free of charge. You can browse these on the UniTasterDays.com site.
