"The total amount of information generated by the human race before the digital age was around one Exabyte (one million million million letters). Today, that amount of data is circulated across the internet in a matter of days. Information networks are generating data of a kind and scale not seen before. How much information is there in that data, how can it be extracted and managed, and what use can we make of it? This talk shows how mathematics helps to provide some of the answers."
