The day will run from 9.30am until 12.30pm and then there is the opportunity to go and play 9 holes of golf at one of our partner clubs Hagley Golf and Country Club (HGCC) for a £10 fee per student.

The day will be structured so that students are able to participate in different taster sessions focusing on the below key areas:

- Biomechanics – This session aims to demonstrate some biomechanical techniques and how we can utilize them for the analysis of the golf swing. Students will have the chance to measure their swing velocity with a 3D motion capture system.

- Psychology of Golf – Students will have a short introduction to the psychology of golf. Specifically, we will focus on issues of confidence, motivation, and/or mental toughness. This session will reflect the main teaching format students will be exposed to on the Tournament Golf degree programme.

- Discovery Golf Practical – In this session students will have the opportunity to explore playing and coaching golf in a fun and practical setting. This session will introduce the different areas of coaching science and how they apply to real world scenarios.

- Q&A Session with Alison Nicholas – Alison will be with us all morning taking part in the workshops and answering any questions along the way.
Alison Nicholas, MBE, is one of Great Britain’s most successful golfers. In a professional career spanning more than 20 years, Alison claimed 18 tournament wins including the British Open, topped the Ladies European Tour Order of Merit and, in 1997, won the most prestigious championship in golf – the US Open.

There will be lunch and refreshments provided at 12pm. Then there is the option to come and join us at Hagley GCC for a round of 9 holes in the afternoon. Please note that transport to Hagley GCC is not provided by Newman and those wanting to come and play must make their own travel arrangements.
Places will be booked and confirmed as they are received and are allocated on a first come, first served basis. Maximum allocation per school or college is 10 students plus teachers.

To book your place please contact Hayley Barry Marketing Officer.
