Year 11 is the perfect time for teenagers to start thinking about what they may do in the future, so as to help them make the important decision of selecting the right courses for them in Year 12 and beyond. This conference will give pupils an opportunity to learn about one of the following professions:
• Life & Health Sciences (Optometry, Audiology & Pharmacy)
• Business & Entrepreneurship
• Languages (French, Spanish & German)
Throughout the day pupils will attend 2 workshops that focus on their profession of interest and a third plenary session.
Session 1: Pathway to the Professions (breakout session 1)
This session will give pupils an opportunity to meet a professional from a career they are interested in, find out about their qualifications, experiences and daily responsibilities.
Session 2: Skills development workshops (breakout session 2)
This interactive work-related skills development workshop will give pupils an opportunity to learn about standard interview practices and develop some of the key skills that employers look for in their chosen professions.
Session 3: Getting the experience you need (plenary)
This short talk will give pupils the opportunity to learn about different work experience opportunities available to them to help them develop the skills that they need and make the important decision about what they choose to do in the future.
