'Physics: Hot & Cold' Masterclass

Full Event Details:

The session will introduce students to the idea of temperature –our experience of extremes of temperature, what temperature means, and how is it different to heat. We will discuss what happens to materials when they get very hot or very cold, with lots of demonstrations using liquid Nitrogen. Superconductors will be introduced at a basic level. The students will each get an opportunity to solder together a circuit designed to warn if fridge temperature exceeds a certain level (40C) and will be able to take the completed circuit away with them to test at home! Student helpers will be involved.
