Six of the academic departments at SOAS are devoted to teaching and research in the languages, literatures and cultures of Africa, China and Inner Asia, Japan and Korea, the Near and Middle East, South Asia, and South East Asia, with the seventh teaching and conducting research in Linguistics.
SOAS, University of London is the only Higher Education institution in Europe specialising in the study of Asia, Africa and the Near and Middle East. Uniquely combining language scholarship, disciplinary expertise and regional focus, it has the largest concentration in Europe of academic staff concerned with Africa, Asia and the Middle East.
In this full-day taster programme you will learn about some of the languages and cultures of these regions during workshops, language taster sessions and lectures taken by renowned experts in the field. We will have language tasters in Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Arabic, as well as Hindi and Swahili.
You will also have opportunities to ask questions and find out more about the study of languages and cultures at SOAS.
