Development Studies is a dynamic field of study concerned with social and economic change and the major policy challenges they present. While the major focus is on those countries which have remained poor despite the advances made in the industrialised parts of the world, many of the issues raised are essentially global in scope and significance.
SOAS is a remarkable institution. Uniquely combining language scholarship, disciplinary expertise and regional focus, it has the largest concentration in Europe of academic staff concerned with Africa, Asia and the Middle East.
In this half-day taster programme you will consider topics and issues of development in workshops and lectures taken by renowned experts in the field. You will also have opportunities to ask questions and find out more about the study of Development Studies at SOAS.
