A Taste of Physics

Event Summary:

Hosted by Royal Holloway. A one-day session for students who are thinking of applying to do a Physics degree at university.

Full Event Details:

They will experience some hands-on practical activities in our teaching laboratories, and hear two lectures by scientists talking about their work. The students will also have the opportunity to ask our admissions tutor any questions that they may have about the UCAS process. There is an optional evening lecture about particle physics and exotic new detectors.

Duration: One day (10.30am - 5pm)

Course Requirements: This taster course is open to year 12 students or anyone considering starting their undergraduate studies in September 2016. You must be studying Mathematics AND Physics at AS Level (or equivalent) to attend this taster course.

The Taster Course Programme provides year 12 sixth form students with a taste of what life at a university in London is like. Through your chosen taster course you will experience the different teaching methods used by university academics and gain an insight into the additional facilities available, whilst meeting students from across the UK.

All our taster courses are free to attend and you can choose a course from a variety of subjects taking place at the numerous participating universities. Courses range from voice and drama, to medicine and nursing, to computing and business.
