In such courses you will have the opportunity to study English literature from its earliest roots to the present day. So you will encounter the extraordinary saga of Beowulf a work which continues to inspire writers film- and game-makers today; you will explore the Renaissance, not just Shakespeare but all the other writers who worked in this fast-moving era of world travel, scientific discovery and information exchange; you will – perhaps especially if you study in the splendid Founders Building at Royal Holloway! – live and breathe the art, culture and literature of the Victorians, and you will also read the award-winning work of the newest generation of creative writers – some of whom might actually be teaching you!

You will gain hands-on experience of lectures, seminars and workshops delivered by the highly respected English academics who work at Royal Holloway.
