It will also allow students to interact with lecturers from the UK’s top Music Department for research (Research Assessment Exercise 2008).
Although the taster day is primarily aimed at A-level music students who are currently in year 12, we also welcome other students considering the study of music at university (for example, A-level students in year 13, and Access to Music or BTEC students).
Attendees will have a choice of options for each session. Last year’s taster day included lectures on ‘Baroque opera and the castrato: Handel and Farinelli’, ‘Film Music: Titanic’, ‘Wagner, sex and capitalism’, and ‘Arranging for Orchestra’, alongside workshops in Solo Performance (classical) and Korean drumming, and a session on careers in music.
PLEASE NOTE: After you have submitted your application, we will email you within 5 working days to ask you to write in 150 words, why you are interested in studying this subject. Once we have received your 150 words, we will let you know within 10 working days whether or not your application has been successful.
