FASHION/PERFORMANCE SPORTSWEAR DESIGN SUMMER SCHOOL
1:00pm Monday 27 July to 11am Friday 31 July
Places available: 20
Fee: £495
Bookings close at midnight, Monday 06 July

During this Summer School you will receive a true taste of the BA(Hons) Performance Sportswear Design degree course, by experiencing a fully immersed fast-track condensed version of the fashion design process for performance wear - from inspiration to final garment design on paper - in a workshop environment.

You will have the opportunity to take a surf lesson and then learn about the human factors involved, giving you a clearer idea of how to design clothing for the sport, and a yoga session will introduce you to anatomy and movement. Using this hands-on experience of what is needed to participate in these sports you will be introduced to the fundamental elements of the design process: inspiration, research, mood boards, concept, shape, silhouette, colour, fabric, initial ideas, and rough development, resulting in a final presentation of a collection for the beach, surfing and yoga.

During the studio sessions you will also be able to gain advice on applying for a degree course through UCAS and preparing a portfolio for interview.
