Full event details

This masterclass highlights how computer science is more than just programming and can in fact draw on many parallels with psychology. Students will gain an understanding of a participatory design method for mobile technology development and learn the skills required to work effectively as part of a multi skilled design team. Focusing on how we design smartphone apps to bring about health-related behaviour change, students will be encouraged to see beyond their smartphone as a fun communication “gadget” for social networking and browsing the web and to think of its capacity to fulfil the role of a technology that can significantly impact the behaviours and health of its users. Please note, that this masterclass does not focus on programming and students will not be coding mobile apps. The masterclass is designed to broaden students’ perspectives on what is encapsulated within the design world of human computer interaction.
